Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing video game released in 2020. Developed by CD Projekt Red and based on the game series by Mike Pondsmith, the game is set in the dystopian universe of the fictional Californian city of Night City. Players take on the role of “V”, a mercenary tasked with dealing with the aftermath of a heist involving an experimental cybernetic “biochip” containing rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand ( (played by Keanu Reeves).

The story follows V and Johnny as they team up to try to separate themselves and save V’s life. The development of the game involved a team of 500 people and used the REDengine 4 game engine. Its narrative, setting, and graphics were well received, although some gameplay elements received mixed reviews. An expansion called Phantom Liberty will be released in 2023.

Will there be a Cyberpunk 2?
CD Projekt Red has not yet confirmed whether a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (commonly known as Cyberpunk 2) is in the works. In a recent CD Projekt Red Investor Day presentation, Cyberpunk 2077 mission director Paweł Sasko said that we have no regrets about using the game entirely from a first-person perspective. He emphasized that the first-person perspective was chosen to give cyberpunk a unique identity.

When asked about the possibility of a first-to-third-person switch in a potential sequel, codenamed Orion, Sasko didn’t offer a clear answer, saying: “With Orion, we haven’t seen that yet.” Development of Orion Still in its early stages, CD Projekt Red is currently focused on other projects, including the next Witcher game, Polaris. Therefore, it is still uncertain whether Cyberpunk 2 will have a third-person option.

“Cyberpunk 2077” gameplay
In Cyberpunk 2077, players take on the role of V, a customizable mercenary who lives in a vast open-world metropolis called Night City. Playing the game from a first-person perspective, players can freely modify V’s appearance, skills and network software implants to obtain a unique gaming experience.
