Sonic Superstar
Sonic Super Star is a platform game released in 2023, developed by Arzest and Sonic Team, and later published by Sega. The game takes players back to the classic side-scrolling gameplay that made Sonic famous in the 1990s. You can play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy Rose, and together they stop Dr. Eggman and Hunter Fang. Newly added are power-ups, which you can collect by collecting Chaos Emeralds.

Sonic team leader Takashi Iizuka wanted to modernize the traditional side-scrolling Sonic formula. After a partnership with Sonic Mania developers failed, they teamed up with Arzest. The game also marks Sonic co-creator Naoto Oshima’s return to Sonic gaming since 1998’s Sonic Adventure. Arzest aims to capture the gameplay of Sonic Genesis while adding new features to keep it fresh.

Sonic Superstar: How to Unlock Super Sonic?
To unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Superstar:
Collect Chaos Emeralds: To unlock Super Sonic, players must find all seven Chaos Emeralds scattered throughout the story campaign.
Select Super Sonic: After collecting all Chaos Emeralds, players can activate Super Sonic by using the right analog stick to access the ability wheel and select Super Sonic.
Activating Abilities: After selecting Super Sonic, the player should press the “Y” button to activate the ability.
Enjoy super powers: Your character transforms into supersonic speed, gains bursts of speed, and becomes invincible when the ability is activated.

Sonic Superstars offers an immersive gaming experience reminiscent of the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games from the Sega Genesis era. In this side-scrolling platform adventure, players will follow Dr. Eggman on his quest to thwart the plans of Dr. Eggman, who recruits Hunter Fang and Sungazer Tripp to capture the giant animals of the Polaris Islands.
Players can choose from four characters, each with unique abilities: Sonic can jump and dash, Tails can fly, Knuckles can glide and climb, and Amy can swing a hammer and double jump. After completing the main story, Tripp, a character with Amy’s double jump and Knuckles’ climbing abilities, becomes available. The game contains 12 areas, including springs, hoops, hoops and shield power-ups. Some areas offer special features, such as vine grinds or character-specific challenges.
Special stages provide additional challenges. Players navigate 3D environments, collect Chaos Emeralds to increase their powers, and spin through mazes to earn character customization medals. Sonic Superstar supports local multiplayer for up to four players and introduces player-versus-player modes including races, battles, and collection contests, adding exciting variety to classic Sonic gameplay.
